We believe funding transparency is crucial.
As such, in this section you can find our disclosures to ensure you have the full picture on who funds our work.

Foodfacts.org is a platform owned and operated by foodfacts.org, a non-profit organisation. (no. 15414442) limited by guarantee and registered in England and Wales, dedicated to promoting food transparency and combating misinformation.
At foodfacts.org, we are committed to transparency and independence in all of our work.
We are not a fully funded organisation. Our income is small and comes from a handful of grants, a few philanthropic gifts and public donations that currently average around £400 a month. Most of our team are volunteers who give their time for free. None of our funders has any influence over the content we publish. This includes:
- No say in what we choose to fact-check
- No input on our editorial decisions, verdicts, or research methods
- No prior review or approval of our articles
All editorial decisions regarding our fact-checks are made solely by our Research Team, in line with our internal guidelines and fact-checking methodology.
Our editorial independence is a core part of our mission to provide accurate, impartial, and evidence-based information about food and nutrition.

Our funding at a glance

On top of these payments, individual donations from members of the public currently average around £400 a month. We carry no advertising and take no money from the food industry.
Disclosure: Philip Lymbery, Global CEO of Compassion in World Farming International, sits on our independent advisory board. The advisory board has no role in our editorial decisions, which are made solely by our Research Team, and the Compassion in World Farming grant carries the same conditions as every other grant on this page: no say in what we fact-check and no prior review of our articles.
Why our team is bigger than our budget
Most of the people on our team page are volunteers, including our researchers and fact-checkers. The funding above covers our running costs and could not pay a full-time team. None of it buys any say over what we fact-check or what we conclude.
